The Five Most (already) Overplayed Stories of the Tigers in 2013

It seems like October 28 was just last week.  That evening culminated with the San Francisco Giants coming from behind to defeat the Detroit Tigers 4-3 in 10 innings to complete their four-game sweep and win their second World Series Championship in three seasons.  But trust me, it wasn’t.  In the 118 days since the Tigers second defeat in the past seven World Series, there has not been a whole of news for the Tigers.  They quickly signed outfielder Torii Hunter to a two-year contract to sure up right field and the number two spot in the batting order.  Then after about a month of uncertainty, the Tigers re-signed trade deadline acquisition Anibal Sanchez to an $80 million, five-year contract and the Tigers portion of making headlines in the 2012/2013 off-season was over.

That being said, there a lot of people that cover the Tigers (Chris Iott, James Schmel, John Lowe, Lynn Henning, Jayson Beck, Matthew Mowery, Dave Hogg, Tony Paul; and these are just the beat writers) and there was not a whole lot to discuss over the four months of the off-season.  There is about one or two spots available on the opening day roster and the everyday lineup is just about set.

So, on the day of the Grapefruit League opener at Joker Marchant Stadium, the most overplayed stories of the Tigers 2013 spring-training.
